Speakers include:

1000hrs Mark Littlejohn
One of the things I’m always asked about is how to get a little bit of atmosphere…
The simple answer is that it’s not always that easy. I’m not one for going out in flat light and then using 7th Dan skills in the art of Photoshop to introduce lines and angles, darkness and light. I need to feel the excitement of the moment, the thrill of changing conditions and dramatic light. It should be a thrill seeking adrenalin rush, our hearts should pound, our breath quickens and the odd swear word should escape our lips.
I’ve always been very conditions dependent but you need to know your chosen area well and know what conditions and at what time of day that will suit it best. And don’t make excuses – get off your backside and get out there when the conditions are right, no matter if you are tired or if there is something that you really should be doing elsewhere.
The other aspect that strikes me is that some folk seem to want to show everyone everything all of the time. If you do that where is the intrigue, the mystery? It becomes a record shot, nothing more. For these precise reasons I quite often use a longer lens than others might. It is purely because sometimes what you leave out is more important than what you put in.

1120hrs Tom Way
Within this talk Tom goes into what it takes to be a Wildlife Photographer. Talking about the importance of light, the right angles and the emphasis on trying to compose a sellable image when looking through the lens. Tom describes his adventures over the last few years, and how he has gone from working in a gym to now taking wildlife images around the world and exhibiting them over the UK.

1345hrs Ted Leeming and Morag Paterson
Ted Leeming and Morag Paterson have been working together for over 12 years, collaborating photographically over a wide range of subject matter, techniques and projects. From traditional landscapes, through impressionist and ICM work to environmental projects such as Zero Footprint – where they photographed from a single fixed location at their house for five years. Working both separately and jointly the collaborative element revolves around sharing ideas and ways of addressing a subject or concept. The communication and development might take place in the field or manifest years later through some forgotten spark of inspiration. Sometimes there are tangents and they both have individual projects that don’t overlap, although there’s often a trace of the other even in these individual works.
Their mutual deep appreciation and love of landscape and the outdoors is reflected both in their work and lifestyle, and their current and future projects will increasingly reflect concerns about the environment.
In Leeming + Paterson “A Collaborative Journey” Ted and Morag share their photographs, experiences and anecdotes, from the field, the ‘darkroom’, exhibiting and teaching. Images from Scotland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands through to their new home in Liguria, Italy.

1500hrs Charlie Waite
Where does the impulse and compulsion to want to photograph originate?
Why do so many photographs taken often not translate or evoke the experience that was enjoyed at the time the photograph was created?
What criteria of measurement does the viewer use with which to evaluate the image, concluding with either an unfavourable or favourable response.
How does the photographer define their objective? What does the photographer want to say?
How is beauty defined from the Landscape Photographers perspective?
Has traditional photography of beautiful landscapes got further to go? Intentional camera movement and multiple exposure are taking hold…… more than a craze?
These questions and many more will be discussed in depth in the talk from Charlie Waite.
