Ross developed a passion for nature, conservation and photography at a young age. His parents introduced him to photography aged 11 and a year later, in 1990, Ross won BBC Countryfile’s junior flora and fauna category in their annual photo competition. This proved to be just the encouragement that he needed and by the time he won the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition a few years later, he had already decided to pursue a career in photography.

Ross is now among the UK’s leading outdoor photographers. He has worked as a full time professional since 1997, supplying photographs and undertaking commissions for a wide range of clients worldwide – including BOSE, Patronas UK and Kew Gardens. Ross is the author of several best selling photography books and well known for being a regular contributor to the UK photo press. He has enjoyed multiple successes in Wildlife Photographer of the Year and in 2008 was on the judging panel for the competition. In 2009 Ross won the British Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and he has also had commended images in Landscape Photographer of the Year and International Garden Photographer of the Year.

Based in North Cornwall, in South West England, Ross is best known for his exquisite macro and close-up images, and for evocative landscape photographs – particularly of Devon and Cornwall. He co-runs Dawn 2 Dusk Photography and also offers bespoke 1-2-1 tuition and workshops. Ross is an Ambassador for Nikon UK (2013-2015), Manfrotto and is also a Global Icon for F-stop Gear.
