DESCRIPTION
This exciting one day workshop is intended for those that already have a good grasp of the fundamentals of photography (or have completed one of our beginner workshops) and are now looking for more creative ways of expressing themselves through their art.
Location: Joe Cornish Gallery & North York Moors / Yorkshire Dales
Tutor: Mark Banks
Level: Intermediate
Group size: 4 maximum
Time: 10:00 - Late
After an initial welcome talk here at the Joe Cornish Gallery, Mark will transport all participants to a beautiful location in North Yorkshire to try out the techniques discussed using their own camera equipment. Mark will of course be on hand throughout the day to give advice and tuition as well as offer tips and tricks where appropriate.
WHAT TO BRING
Just bring the camera equipment that you would normally use.
You should also have weatherproof clothing, plenty of layers and suitable walking shoes/boots for when you are on location. A packed lunch and any food and drink that you need throughout the day will also be needed. Take into account that you could be out until sunset depending on the weather.
The workshop group is limited to 4 to enable each participant to receive plenty of help and support.
AGENDA
Over the course of the day Mark will discuss and demonstrate the techniques used to become more creative with your camera including:
Achieving a balanced landscape using graduated filters
Creating long exposure images
Black and White Photography
Intentional Camera Movement (for a more abstract look)
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
Tutor Mark Banks is an experienced and talented workshop leader, in addition to being a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society. He has been hosting One-Day workshops for the gallery and assisting Joe with our Residential Workshop programme for the past 10 years.
“Mark Banks is quite simply one of the best teachers of photography I have ever met. His secret is an apparently endless supply of patience, and an acute analytical approach to developing systematic problem-solving tactics in photography, which he makes effortless and fun to learn, whether in the field or in the editing suite. Mark’s artistry, empathy, kindness and charm mean he is always a joy to work with, or to be taught by.” Joe Cornish
